A US Teenager was refused entry to Disney’s Animal Kingdom this week as she was dressed in a Tinkerbell Costume. The 15 year old turned up to the park dressed as Disney’s signature fairy character and was seen posing for pictures with other guests. The security staff promptly provided clothes for her and her boyfriend (who was dressed as Peter Pan) to wear before re-admitting them to the theme park – as well as dozens of fast pass tickets enabling her to skip the queues! We think this is pretty sweet of Disney and typical of their unsurpassed customer service. April Spielman moaned that she was ‘heartbroken’ at having to cover up her costume that had taken her hours to make. Hmm, Disney’s website clearly states that costumes representing Disney characters are not allowed within their resorts and surely it’s just a matter of common sense? A big draw of the famous theme parks, especially for younger visitors, is the ability to meet, photograph and even dine with the Disney characters who mill around the parks all day. Of course the magic makers don’t want their customers confused with guests arriving in similar costumes!
